The world has been too slow for him.

That's an obvious observation she can deduce. Being an intern in the Avengers tower, she tends to notice these tiny things. For instance, the Scarlet Witch keeps to herself, always thinks before saying anything. Her words and actions are measured with caution.

The Black Widow likes her coffee black. The thought makes the intern laugh, but somewhere in the back of her mind, she thinks about the assassin's baggy eyes and tired face. Behind her beguiling and somewhat cocky demeanor lies a tired girl who just wants to disappear.

At least that's what the intern thinks as she prepares Natasha's coffee.

While fumbling with the hot beverage, the intern sees Captain America in the corner of her eye. The soldier seated in the corner of the room has his face in his hands, his breathing resonates the room. This continues for a while after she leaves to give Natasha her coffee.

She spots Natasha standing with Iron Man, or Tony Stark rather. Both people are in deep conversation, and she wonders what they are talking about. Probably some saving-the-world shit. But the intern doesn't ask. After all, she's just that.

"Ms. Romanoff? You're coffee?"

The Black Widow looks like she just snapped out of a trance. Tony Stark looks annoyed but he leaves, leaving both girls alone.

"Thanks," Natasha says upon receiving the caffeinated drink.

"Do-- do you need anything else?"

She shakes her head. "No, I'm good. Thank you."

The other girl nods at the Black Widow, then leaves as well.

Walking in the empty halls of the Avengers tower, she feels the whoosh of air whip past her.  She swivels around, only to see nothing behind her.

Then, she feels something whistle behind her, making her hair fly all over her face. She turns around.

There he is.

The boy who thinks the world is too slow for him. He's called Quicksilver because of those obvious reasons. Besides his silver locks of hair and his superhuman speed, he's impulsive and quick-tempered.

And he's also a cocky bastard.

He leans against the cream-colored wall with a cheeky grin plastered on his face. "Well, if it isn't our lovely intern, _____."

"Hello, Pietro," she says without missing a beat as she fixes her hair that's all over her face.

"How are you?" He saunters toward her until he's merely a feet (or maybe less) away. She avoids his piercing blue eyes. The room suddenly feels hot, and she fights the urge to ️fan herself.

"Pietro, I'm busy. Can we just talk--"

His lips are on hers in a matter of seconds, his hand finds its way to the small of her back and the other lost in her hair while her hands are on his chest. She is lost in the kiss. Something flutters in her stomach as they move against each other's lips. She presses herself against him. He pulls her to him. She wants more obviously.

Then, she pulls away because she isn't getting what she wanted.

"What's wrong?" Pietro asks, going in for her lips again.

"I--I'm... I can't do this, Pietro. I'm sorry."

She untangles herself away from him and leaves. He could've used his powers to stop her from leaving him but he doesn't. He lets her go.

When she's sure Pietro is nowhere seen, she lets a few tears spill (thank God for waterproof eyeliner). Regret washes over her. She knows she should've not let him kiss her in the first place. She knows he goes for girl after girl.

Then why did she let herself fall for someone like him? She doesn't know.

The world can't catch up to him. He can't commit, can't stay long. Once he's done, he moves on. He's everywhere, and she can't handle that.

She's just too slow for him.
Because fluff is so overrated. Any forms of cristicism is accepted.

I actually think this is an accurate representation of what would happen in reality. Pietro's a player and if the reader knew him, she would know this and steer clear of him even if she had feeling's for him, because she knows they wouldn't be in a lasting relationship.
While I do love the Pietro fluff and the cuteness of other works, I really like this because this is the reality of having feelings for him.
